WELL DONE! to everyone who took part in our little race - we hope you all had a good day and managed to loose count of the mini hills on the route - the post race massage and relaxation hopefully took care of that.
We are in the throws of doing our post race tidy and sort. We know there are a few things to do/improve for next year and are clearly aware that the last minute hitch in the route caused us some delays in getting finalised info to everyone. Hope no one showed up on Sunday!
Have fun, train safe, stay well.(Check out the Runners World forum for general race banter).
Here are the most important details:
Outline Date: 2nd July 2011 (Saturday)
Time: From 9am (check the leaflet) but be aware starts are staggered over 3hrs+ (well it is a time trial - but it does work - honest!)
Start: British Waterways Canal Dock, Wolverhampton.
Finish: Brindley Place, Birmingham
Route: A basically flat route following the towpath alongside the canals that connect the two Cities. Arguably, it is a downhill route with the only "lumps" being the locks and bridges that cross intersections. These "lumps" do get more frequent towards the latter stages of the run, making it perhaps a little tougher than it may seem. The 360yard long tunnel at Coseley is an "entertaining" feature enjoyed by some, hated by others but remembered by all. Completely off road and traffic free. You should be aware that the surface varies from well tended gravel paths and brick paving to un-kept surfaces - largely what you might encounter on any off road run.
Frequent drink stations - most of them "floating". Well marshalled and mostly good fun (Oh - watch out for the geese).
