You said - We listened

So, we are now entering the fifth year of this great “little” event and we really have grown together! Affectionately dubbed the marmite race, (we do keep trying for sponsorship from them but so far no luck).

We will have another row of loo's at the start in 2011 (who said "what's wrong with the canal"?)

From humble beginnings in 2007 (a year or two before that other Birmingham Half) we have grown and developed – trying to keep you – the athletes – at the forefront and taking on board as much of the feedback as practicable.

We have a new charity on board this year – Parkinson’s – as well as staying with Macmillan. Raising money for charity isn’t compulsory but we would encourage everyone to try and raise just a few pounds (or a lot more) if they can. You can of course run for your own preferred charity if you wish.

We have

·         Great support from the BCNS who provided marshals and floating drink stations last year – they are “on board” again this year and are a real bonus to the event.

·         A different style of event on a time trial basis with chip timing giving accurate times for all

·         A different type of course taking in some great aspects of the Black Country.

·         An interesting tunnel and some pesky bridges that add “something” to the course.

·         Great feedback from the Runners World forums and feedback pages.

·         A great finish location and a pub within a sweatband's throw of the finish offering discounts to thirsty runners!

·         A friendly atmosphere

·         Oh and did we mention the tunnel?

We hope to see you on Saturday 2nd July 2011 for another bumper turnout.

We would also like to say HOVIS - you were missed by all.
